A fairytale generally follows a specific pattern: normal life -> disruption -> call to unknown -> trials and tests -> a magical gift -> confrontation -> transformation -> restoration of order. Then once a story is complete you begin to try and disecte the moral of the story. Many stories are read to children to tell them about how terrible the world can be and a way to warn them.
